Countdown!

It was her dream... To visit places and taste flavors of various cultures...
When her job took her to the United States of America, she was thrilled.

What a different country it is, she wondered...
Clean and developed country...
Left hand driving and no autos...
She smiled to herself at the comparison.

Suddenly she realized that crossing seven seas is not a big deal anymore.
World has shrunk into a micro village.
Commuting between places has become easy.

She found an Indian family.
She felt homesick...

She gazed up at the sky and said, “India... Ten days to kiss you!”

I love your story from "the other side". Great conclusion. Home is where your heart is.

  2. Great story. It captures the excitement of going to a new place and the longing for home when you're there. As someone who has lived overseas for almost a decade, I can understand both. :)

  4. Yes, the world may be small, but when you feel lonely or disconnected from where your heart belongs, it can seem very big indeed. A loely offering.

  5. There really is no place that can fill that one place in your heart. Traveling and meeting new people is fun but it is nice return to your roots
    nice flash fiction

  7. Dear Locomente,

I know close to exactly how your protagonist feels. Whenever I leave Hawaii I start counting down the days until I smell her fragrance once again.

    Great story.

    Aloha,

    Doug
