I could
not escape him… I just admired him… And thanked him for making the best of
music possible!!!

Today,
being his birthday,
I wanted
to write something…
I kept
wondering all the day…
From
where to start and what to write…
Suddenly,
I realized that it is almost night…
So… I
switched on my PC and started to type whatever is coming into my idle mind…

The first
thing that would pop into anyone’s mind is his first film – Roja…
The
movie was outstanding… And the songs coupled with the background score outshone
it!!!
But, for
me the first thing about him that would tickle my memory is the Nila Kaaigirathu song from the film Indra.
It was
the first song I by-heart for the first time in my life…
And the
first song that I sang on-stage!!!
Then,
the songs from the movie Thiruda Thiruda…
Oh my
God!!! Some of his outstanding scores packed in one single film….
The Veerapaandi Kottaiyile was full of
energry…
On the
other hand, Thee Thee Thithikkum thee
had that oomph factor.
Poraale ponnuthaayi from Karuthamma brought tears to eyes…
And Then merkku paruva kaattru from the same
film which made us dance in the rain…
The
theme song of Bombay
If Netru illatha maatram aennadhu from the
movie Puthiya Mugham talked about the
beauty of love, Kannukku mai azhagu
of the same movie talked about the beautiful things that one should not miss
out on life…
Nobody
can forget Madrasa suthi paarkka porean
or the Maargazhi Poove of May Maadham…
And
yes…. The list goes on on…

Who can
forget the background scores yaar!!!
It brought
so much life to the movie…
And made
the movie an unforgettable experience!!!
My favorite
till date…
That’s
why I sound a little bit skewed with a special paragraph for the movie – Alaipayuthe…
(I know
I am acting childish and biased…
But, I
am not able to control. It’s fine to talk out, right?!)

outstanding works continue in Northern parts too…
The Hai Rama of Rangeela bringing out the passion of love…
The
entire album of the movie Taal …

Then

arouse patriotism within…

brought the old songs in new cup…

Ponmagal Vandhaal from Azhagiya Tamil Magan and Thottal Poo Malarum from New
made younger generations enjoy them too.
I know I
am dragging too long…
But,
such is the compositions of the maestro!
Yet, I have left out too many movies and great music.
I am
feeling ecstatic…
(The way
one would feel after listening to Oottakaara
maarimuthu of the film, Indra!!!)
I belong
to that proud generation which has grown up listening to his songs.
I am
delighted that I have been following him.
He
imbibed music within.
He made
me hum songs.
He
motivated me to learn music.
