65 years of Independence

65 years…
Its 65 years since India stood united and fought together… Its 65 years… And here we are celebrating 66th Independence day... The Nationalistic feelings are still afresh… The Goosebumps are inevitable even today…

INDIA…
Those five lettered word means a lot…
It means unity in diversity…
It means secularism…
It means democracy…
It means HOME!!!

Come on…
Arranged marriages… Joint families… Emotional bondages…
Loud colors… Infinite festivals… Innumerous deities…
Rangoli… Mehandhi… Bindhi…
Crowded buses… Shared autos… Autos per se…
Temples… Churches… Mosques…
Sari… Salwar suits… Trousers…
Where else, but only here we can find all this…
I am a proud Indian…

But I would have felt prouder if corruption, bribery and poverty were alleviated…
I wish that we stand united and ensure overall development; both economical and qualitative…

I wish that women could walk on road even at mid night... I wish that female feticide is reduced, if not eradicated… I wish that life is normal to women than being a struggle… Yes… I really wish that they get independence too; from harassment, both mental and physical… I am fuming from within because 65 years of independence has not led to any independence to her. On a macro level, things look normal; outstanding. But, it is not the same if it is studied in a micro level!

Still… I am a proud Indian… I enjoy mindless masala Indian movies… I love heroism and the foot tapping songs… I love the fluorescent colored attires… I enjoy wearing glass bangles and will never complain even if they wound my wrists… I never say “no” to squeeze into an overcrowded mode of transport – bus… train… auto… it may very well be our private car too!

Indeed...
India… My home... My identity…
India… My mother... She nurtured me… I owe my life to her…

We don’t hate our loved ones for their imperfections. Instead we accept them as they are and ensure try to change them towards betterment… India is my love… And I can never hate her… I just wish that she shreds all those imperfections… I really wish that she emerges out from all the impurities…

I genuinely wish that independence is felt in all the aspects…
Speech… actions… decision making… economical… democratic… religious…
I hope that freedom is not gender driven… or economical status driven…

Further… I hope that the freedom is not misused…
Our forefathers have really struggled and sacrificed a lot…
That is why we are breathing the air of freedom…
Lets stand united and ensure that our mother India does not get ripped apart again… In the way she was 65 years ago…

Love you India…
JAI HIND!!!
VANDE MAATHRAM!!!
