Uday Gupt’s Final Cut is a collection of short
stories and a novella. Each story is unique and is crisp. Its narrative style
holds readers attentions and arouses the interest. I loved the way author has
blended history with the stories. It adds to the uniqueness of narrative.
Another aspect that caught my
attention is the manner in which the author has spread the story over a long
timelines which is very challenging in short stories genre. But the author has
taken the challenge and succeeded in it too!!
Further, the cover page is a
beautiful feather in the cap. It is relevant and persuades the reader to open
the book and explore the magic hidden in words. And thankfully, the cover page
is not misleading either. The author has delivered brilliant stories.
I appreciate author’s courage
to take up a genre that still remains unexplored by the Indian authors. Writing
the short stories is the toughest and the author passes the challenge with
flying colors.
However, most of the stories
lose its track in the midway before reaching its conclusion. The edition could
have been better and the length of the stories could have been cut-short.
Keeping that aside, the book is
a joy read. You will enjoy this book even if you are not a big fan of short
stories.
So… Hurry!
