Revisit and Relive!

L
oneliness pricked him. At the age of fifty seven, he longed for a company. Days of fun and friends seemed to be light years away.

He wished that he didn’t let her go; that he didn’t think that commitment would shrink his world and eat away his independence. He wished that he married her thereby making loving children; a beautiful family.

Some things cannot be changed. He wished that he could revisit the past and relive with her.

But she was dead. After all, she had endured a lifelong betrayal and unfulfilled dreams.

He wished that he was dead too.

PS: Thus goes my 800th post... I am in a celebrations mood... Waiting for my 1000th post!!!

  1. As they say, hindsight is 20/20.

  3. Such a lot of 'if only' for one person. Nicely done.

  5. Congratulations on number 800. I feel bad for your narrator. It's easy to look back and think where you went wrong or made decisions you wished you hadn't, but hopefully he can find something good in his life and a reason to carry on with joy. (I think you want to say, "he longed for company", not "a company.") Best of luck on your next 800 posts. :-)

  6. Dear Satya,

Congratulations on 800! Way to go.

It would be sad to look back with so many regrets. You captured the feelings in few words. Well done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  9. Regret is a bitter meal to dine on over and over. Sad story, too often playing out all around us. I wrote 2 this week, very different from each other... these boots clearly stirred some interesting stories this week!

On a happier note, Mazel on your 800th! An exciting milestone. :-)
