I
looked up to you…
You
were my source of motivation and inspiration.
I
dreamt about you and worked hard to make those dreams come true…
And
I patiently waited for that day when you would become mine…
When
you would accept me and our families would marry each other…
I
worked hard, regardless of the sunset and unmindful of the sunrise…
Seasons
changed and times changed…
I
grew up and so did you…
But,
love remained….
Unchanged
and uncorrupted…
However,
distance between us widened…
Frustration
enveloped due to inability to meet expectations…
Tears
were shed and we started behaving like strangers…
I
waited for years. I thought you would change; come back…
But,
on a sunny day, I realized that it’s impossible…
So,
holding your hands, I started to move away…
Slowly….
Gradually… Until our fingers kissed for one last time…
But,
only after hugging you tight and telling you that I will always love you…
Today,
I am happy for we feel comfortable with each other…
However,
I wonder if you are happy too?
Remember,
that you are the Sunlight…
The
bright light that lit my dark life…
Which
later disappeared when there was enough light around me…
You
have been my guiding light and my source of courage…
And
I thank you…
Wait!
I also wish you happiness…
Let
the Super-power let all your wishes come true…
Let
smiles surround you…
After
all, you will always be the lovely mellow Sun;
Which
graciously fades and lets the Moon tantalize!
This is lovely! I love your closing line :)

DeletePart of the lesson 'to love and let go', which we all need to learn, I think.
ReplyDeleteOne of the toughest lessons...
DeleteBut if we take the effort to learn it... life will be free of regrets and sorrows...
I loved the fact that you love your lover so much that you don't seem to harbour any ill-will towards him despite all the hurt you've suffered. You've described all the stages of falling in love with spot-on perfection.
ReplyDeleteWhen you love someone so much, I believe that you can never hate them...
DeleteBecause you tend to accept them as they are!
Thanks Madhu :)
Such a great write tinged with the sadness of letting go but illuminated by such beautiful light.
