How did I miss that

The night was dark
With the lovely moon
And you!
When I saw you…
In the parking lot,
The hottie-hot
Oh my God!
The bells rang
And suns rose
Indeed!
I know
It was night
A dark night
But yet…
Colors emerged
And peacock danced
Of course…
In my heart!
Oh crap!
The colors faded
And only green prevailed
When she greeted you
And pecked on your cheeks
Ouch!
My cheeks burnt
I was embarrassed
How did I miss that?
The wedding band
On your right hand!

  1. I love how you built up this story, locomente, and how the closing couplet rhymes when we reach harsh reality. Well-done!

  3. "And only green prevailed" is so much more creative and poetic than simply stating something about jealousy. Brilliant.

  5. I love this piece. It takes the heart full circle from wonderful happiness to down-hearted. Ha, I guess one always has to take a look at the other's hand. Smiles. So nice to see you here in the Pantry this Sunday.

  8. Hmmmm . . . .Maybe she wasn't married . . .Don't most married people wear their wedding band on their left hand? No wait that depends on country, religion, tradition, gender, choice . . . . Never mind. Ignore that man behind the curtain.

  10. This was very danceable, almost like a dance-pop song in my opinion. I loved the rhythm and the story it conveys!!! Great poem and a surprising end. :)

  13. This just proves that that "first sight" love is for the birds, peacocks and other dangers.
