The Separation

http://rochellewisofffields.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/copyright_bw_beacham.jpg

W
e sat there next to each other watching the waves rise and then fall. It felt like the sea has a life of its own and the waves were her breathing.

Our shoulders were brushing as if they are whispering to each other; updating everything that had happened during the years of separation.

Yes! I was sitting with my first love, after almost a decade’s separation. Our paths had changed, but love always remained.

The beauty about love is that it will always be the same, only the form and texture differs. It like the water which adapts to fits into anything and takes the color of the vessel in which it is stored.

And, we cherished the moment as if we were 16 year old again!

PS: Thanks Rochelle for the wonderful image prompt!

  1. Nice story of love and finding what was lost. I'm amazed how fast you posted your story too! I got the email as soon as it appeared, wrote my story and posted it and there were already two up. :) Anyway, good job and great story.

    1. Thanks David...
      Sometimes, it flows easily...
And I have to admit that some days, it is really tough...

  2. Love the story.. really about that tender moment -- I like the way of seeing the now, and not just looking into regrets of the past.

Sometimes, letting go and living the present becomes more important than looking at the past and regretting..

  6. Your story is filled with love and joy. It's a lovely reminder that love can be found, or re-found, at any age.

In your title, "Separation", not "Seperation." It's correct everywhere else.

  7. This is a very sentimental and warm piece.

(I had difficulty with the tense change within sentences. Past to present and back again. Also I think the waves need to rise and fall)

  9. Lovely imagery... shoulders brushing "as if they were whispering to each other." Also loved the analogy to water that takes the shape and color of its vessel. Just lovely!

  10. Nicely done and so true ... to a point, when it can turn on you and not be true. But a glowing picture portrait of a lovely re-connection.
