Understand...

I wish that you understood me
That you never changed;
That we never grew up…

I wish that you were the same
That little teddy-bearish joy;
That sweet-shy lovely monster

I wish that times never changed
That it never snatched you from me;
That this cruel joke was never played

I wish that you understood me
That you stand by me;
That you love me

I wish that you never leave me
That you remain my sweet little love;

That darling of my heart!

  1. Beautiful. Very emotional. Is this really addressed to someone?

      This is a result of my crazy mind's meandering thoughts.
      Nothing personal :)

  7. Wishing time would stand still is a sign of love and misunderstanding...but we all do it.

  8. Yes, I agree with Vandana - very heart felt and the ache seems to be for the love to remain as it was

  10. Moving, yearning poem. I feel it and know its truth in my relationship with one of my brothers.

  11. One wishes things need never change and yet they always do. You have captured that yearning for things to be as they were.

  12. Yes, "let them be little" and "never grow up" so that we can have them for ever.

  15. I get the feeling that this is from a parent to a child. (At least that's what I get out of it.)

      And, I am glad that this relatable under different forms of love - parents-child, lovers, siblings and so on.

      Thanks Justin :)

  16. Nostalgia and sorrow mix well, don't they? Its incredible you could write a beautiful poem, which is seemingly addressed to a teddy bear. Its remarkable how you put in very sincere emotions in it. Well done!

      Its nice to know that you think it is addressed to the teddy bear. Another perspective there.
