I loved you with a love
That was more than love
But look at what I got in return?
Tears and more tears.
Until numbness spread;
And vacuum filled.
Now that love is gone…
And the pain it gave.
But I still feel punished.
After all, I am feeling estranged…
From myself!
I hope this is just a poem and not a reality for it is really stirring and painful
ReplyDeleteNope.. Just a poem... So no worries :)
DeleteIs everything alright dear? such pain through your words....
ReplyDeleteJust a thought... not reality!
Deleteif this is true, i suggest you let go and be free. otherwise, love is tearing you apart. hugs and kisses now.
ReplyDeleteThanks James for your kind words :)
DeleteInterestingly enough the last word of your first line is "love", and the last word in your last line is "myself" ... you've come full circle, girl ... everything good starts with loving yourself, yes? ... Always, cat.
ReplyDeleteOh I so love this comment. Much wisdom here. You have captured the feelings well. Your Self will come back - stronger. I promise.
Delete@ Cat: Even I didnt think that way. Awesome observation
Delete@Sherry : I totally agree
DeleteFeeling estranged from myself. Perhaps is it not a feeling of remorse, admitting of the mistake. And the mistake I feel is trying to plead to be loved. Someone told me crying for love only increases beggary.
ReplyDeleteBut then the lines are fine too here.
Thanks Anil... I believe that crying and begging for love is the last stage when you know that it wont work out and you are just giving a one last try... So that tomorrow, it is easy to convince yourself and move on.
DeleteSo touching...I hope everything is ok vd u..Tc
ReplyDeleteYes! It is...
DeleteThanks :)
a heart breaking song of a painful heart :(
ReplyDeleteThanks Vandana :)
DeleteI suppose that estrangement is in fact a questioning of what else could have been done. Hopefully that will pass and a feeling of cleansing and starting anew will take its place. How each of us must have felt this way at one time.
ReplyDeleteSo well said. Thanks :)
Deletethis speaks of the bafflement of an estranged soul...nicely expressed Satya :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sumana :)
Deleteit is a great source of pain, but still i believe it's better to have loved than never love at all.
ReplyDeleteThats true though :)
DeleteHeartfelt.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteTrue when you loose love you feel estranged but the pain only makes you stronger. Stay strong
ReplyDeleteThanks Surabhi :)
DeleteTouching and pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
Deletea little bit of ourselves... i like that
ReplyDeleteThough we lose the love of others, we have to continue to love ourselves through all.
ReplyDeleteThats so well said.
DeleteI really liked the way you have decorated your blog page. It reminded me of a lovingly tagged Xmas tree.
ReplyDeleteAwww... Thanks a lot :)
DeleteThis is a very poignant poem, Locomente. How sad when we end up feeling estranged from ourselves.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad... But then, isn't is life?
Deleteestranged from ourselves… the most painful place to be.
ReplyDeleteYes... :(
DeleteLosing ourselves in love is not a good thing, contrary to popular belief..
ReplyDeleteIt is not... But then, isn't that unavoidable?
DeleteSuch inevitabiliy for those who endure at their own cost! What a sad poem.
ReplyDeleteThank Susan :)
Deletelove can take us away from ourselves...in pursuit we forget who we are...
ReplyDeleteand when love is done it can be so hard to find our way back
to ourselve.s..
Yes... And thats the worst place to be at...
DeleteThanks Brian :)
Deep loss can always leave us feeling empty. You express this feeling so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot... :)
DeleteLove, love, and love again.
ReplyDeleteZQ
As always... :P
DeleteThanks :)
An unrequited love..it hurts...wonderfully portrayed... :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Maniparna :)
DeleteWhat a shame! There are times unrequited love can be most damaging to the soul. Make up will be in order! Great lines Locomente!
ReplyDeleteHank
Thanks for the comments :)
DeleteThe first two lines ... I can read them again and again
ReplyDelete"I loved you with a love
That was more than love"
Brilliant :-)
Aww... Thanks Amrit :)
Deleteah lots of love, lots of prince charming meets princess charming stuff, no matter how bad people expects that to happen, it never does, boz it never suppose to in the first place, u can fantasize abt it i mean yeah come on no body is genuine these days, its all made up personalities, and deep within there is always filth, you know can be in various forms like selfishness, or lust, or well i don't know em all so many i guess.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cynical take to everything although the fact remains... What you give indeed comes back...Sooner or later... So, patience pays... Rather on a selfish note, such faith keeps us sane and happy...
DeleteThanks for the perspective... Made me think :)
