Spit Not!

On this Republic Day, I have decided to write something brief.

A mother expects her child to be well-disciplined and well-behaved. She would expect the child to be hygienic and disease-free. She would want the child to respect all and be caring as well as loving.

We all have mothers… In fact not just one, but two – the biological mother and the geographical one, i.e., India. Both of them expect the same from us.

Be a good child and fulfill your mother’s wishes. In the process, you will not lose anything. IN fact, you will only gain! Respect for you in other’s eyes will soar up and it adds more meaning to your life.

As a first step…
SPIT NOT in the public places!!!!

Whenever you feel like spitting, ask yourself if you would spit anywhere in your house? Will your mother appreciate that?

  1. I remember our cherry pit spit contests ... eg. eat a cherry, collect the pit in you mouth, concentrate and spit it a far as you can ... who spit the farthest was the winner ... mumme did not object to that kind of spitting ... but ... when my brother once spit out the fast moving car front window ... that had consequences ... since that spit came right back into the rear window and hit ... mumme ... ergo: never spit out of a moving car ... lesson learned ... smiles ... Love, cat.

  4. Was reminded of spittoons in government offices and railway stations in corners where the walls would be sprayed in red.
Where will we the pan-chewing folks go,may ask.Don't chew when you go out would be the answer.
You were in US for a short period and must have observed no one throws litter anywhere and they collect them to deposit at appointed places.Such a culture is necessary.

    1. I completely agree with you...
Litter is next step... But spitting is disgusting and can very much be curtailed through self-control!

      Just a thought...
USA is clean. When we Indians go there, we dont spit, piss or throw litter in public places.
But, dont we do all that here in India? Dont we take everything for granted here?

  5. Crisp and to the point. As I always say - respect is not demanded, it is always commanded by the way we behave.
