Know all about wearing the mask of kindness ... waiting for arms to catch me ... ME ... and his voice saying: Don't worry, Love, come here ...but it hasn't happened yet, and looks like it never will ... cuz everybody Wants ... and so I'll continue to Give for as long as I can.. Love, cat.
Mirrors can be forgiving or critical....but perhaps they are inside us..not on the wall...and we all have masks...words can be wonderful masks for some ;)
That wearing mask thing will certainly not yield true happiness for sure. It may give you temporary escape but reality will emerge as still a reality at the end of the day. Smiles.
Self-confidence is really a hard subject to talk to. I hope you will have the courage to face the world without mask. But actually, when our town was struck with tragedies, we wore smiling masks to cheer everyone around. We called it Masskara Festival.
We usually don't want to wear that mask. But everything around us conspires against us and compels us to wear it. Everybody wears that mask and the mirror is the only thing that knows our true identity.
I wish someday, we will take off our masks and be our true self.
Oh I remember this - feeling the need to hide somewhat behind a mask - but there is a wonderful knowing in the line" Outsmarting my real self." The journey is to set free that real self and fling off the masks. Announce "here I am - I have arrived." LOL. (Warning: it might scare the relatives!) I am joking. But I really love that line "outsmarting my real self." She cannot be fooled.
Interesting idea that looking in the mirror is a request for more confidence than we have and an attempt to outsmart ourselves. Very thought-provoking. But, the wearing of masks? Ugh. So exhausting. I'm trying to give that up entirely and choose to live authentically instead. Much less effort that way!
So very true... Grown ups need to wear masks... If they can't, they are considered unfit for this world. You have expressed it wonderfull, Satya :) Nice poem... TC! Keep smiling :)
This is quite sad really....masks get heavy after a while.
ReplyDeleteThey do :(

Deletethe mask we wear does not come off. we molded the mask of ourselves, ourselves. this is the image in the 'mirror'.

DeletePerhaps the problem is that our face shows our true to others but not ourselves. We are never quite as good as we would like to be.
ReplyDeleteSpot on!

At the time of tragedies, that is the best we can do. But, not always...
DeleteThanks for sharing :)
Maybe when th mirror tells us to wear a mask we need to make a statement of saying enough.
ReplyDeleteAnd that requires tremendous courage..

DeleteEnjoyed this musing on the images in the mirror. I guess we all wear some kind of mask most of the time. Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peggy :)
DeleteA mask will only fool the one that wears it, your true personality will always be revealed to others in time.
ReplyDeleteBut never to all... Only the close ones would know I guess...
DeleteThanks :)

DeleteSimple and well done. But beware the lies the mirror tells.
ReplyDeleteMirror also lies? :O
DeleteThanks for the perspective :)
I have not read an acrostic poem in a long time, this was great.. it's unfortunate so many of us are wearing a mask :)
ReplyDeleteGlad that you liked it.
