Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is a Shiva temple
at the base of Nandi Hills in the Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka - 60
Kilometers away from Bangalore City.
It is one of the oldest temples of Karnataka,
built in early 9th century. Now, it is protected as a monument of national
importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The temple has two shrines – Arunachaleswara
shrine and Bhoga Nandeeshwara" shrine. According to a Hindu legend, these
depict the two stages of Lord Shiva’s life - childhood and youth.
And, Uma-Maheshwara shrine depicts the third
stage - Lord Shiva's marriage to goddess Parvathi.
Many newlyweds visit the temple seeking the Lord’s
blessing.
