Through the Window

I peeked through the window
There were only buildings.
And people.
Some chasing time; some destiny.
Fiddling with mobile phones;
Nodding to the songs played in ear-phones.

I looked around;
Searched for the birds.
And the leaves that rustles in breeze.
There were neither, I shuddered.
Cacophony of honks maddened me
I closed my window.

  1. These days you need to close your eyes to hear singing birds and flurring of leaves. The cold breeze flowing giving goosebumps and the calm waters of a lake where you try to look yourself. All these bliss and peaceful surroundings can only be felt with closed eyes, another window.

  4. Ah that is unfortunate, although the sound of people moving and living is a song of its own too. But of course nothing is as beautiful as nature.

  5. It is a bizarre phenomenon that sometimes outside can feel as isolated as inside..shutting the window seems wise...sometimes our own world is richer than the emptiness of distance...a poem that really spoke to me...

  6. Nothing more annoying than a 'cacophony of honks.' Good to be able to close a window to give oneself a break from the noise.

  10. I think this is why I find solace in nature and my garden...I must have these sounds...and I do not own a cell phone....progress sometimes, many times takes us backward to a worse place.

  12. Whew! I've heard that this media access which gives us whatever we wish at the touch of a finger will be the end of Absence, the end of waiting. It may also be the end of nature. Gosh.

  15. Soul yearns for calmness the nature gives. Modernization is snatching away simple pleasures like that.
    Nice post!:)
