Author

Gemma had a hard time figuring out what she wanted to be when she grew up. She worked as a film and television actress, a teddy bear importer, a department store administrator, a preschool teacher, a temporary tattoo artist, and a 900 number psychic, before finally selling her first book, Spying in High Heels, in 2005 and deciding to be a writer.

Since then, Gemma has written several mystery novels and been the recipient of numerous awards, including a National Reader's Choice award and three RITA nominations. Her books have hit both the USA Today and the New York Times Bestseller lists.

Gemma now makes her home in the San Francisco Bay area where she is hard at work on her next book.

What I think

Maddie Springer is back!

She is the same old funny, confused, emotional one who is now in search of her father who is in the Sin City. She has intuitive abilities which makes this second book in the series. However, she is a normal person, like you and I. That makes this series very interesting,

The USP of this series is that though the book belongs to the genre of mystery, it is dealt in a very chic-lit way. So there is humor and fun apart from the light-hearted take on things. The words flow effortlessly and it reels right in front of us. The editing is commendable and therefore there is not a moment that would evoke boredom.

I liked the romance track between Maddie and Ramirez. It seems so real. The way Maddie behaves towards Ramirez is very relatable; you-ignored-and-see-I-can-also-ignore-you types! Every girl would have done this with their loved ones at point or the other, agree?

Then, Dana… I adore her. She is self-obsessed and takes life as it comes. She is funny and comes up with bizarre ideas. I like the way she speaks. And her “Ohmigod” is a part of my smartphone dictionary!

But...

You have to read the 1^st book in the series to read this one!
