A Dream Within the Dream

I was sleeping;
Breathing rhythmically.
Then, I felt your kiss;
In the nape of my neck.
I smiled and turned to face you;
Your starry eyes fixed on mine.
Lips slightly parted;
Saying the unsaid.
You drew me closer
And whispered in my ears -
“This is the last time;
I shall never come again”
I shuddered and looked around.
There was no one.
Then, I opened my eyes;
It was a dream within the dream, I realized.
I looked around again –
There was no one.
“Are you gone forever?” I asked within.
Silence was the answer.
A mere dream or reflection of reality, I wondered.

  7. What an amazing dream! I really liked the way you wrote this, as it made me question reality a bit....and wondered if it reflected the dreamer's life...or not! Happy New Year to you. Good to see you at the Pantry.

  8. Oh, this is unexpected.....the "I shall never come again" and the waking to find oneself alone. Dream or portent? One wonders. Very well written!
