I was a kind of person who used to
prefer a walk to bus…
An auto to bus…
A ride in two-wheeler to bus…
In short, anything other than a bus
used to be alright with me…
Why??
Because I was simply scared of
buses!!!
I had this weird fear that the bus
would meet up with an accident…
That I would fall off from the bus
and die on-the-spot on road…
That somebody would steal my wallet
and mobile phone…
And the list would just go on and
on!!!
Yes…
I was Bustrophobic!!!
But, that was only until I went to
Chennai.
I was left with no other option,
but, to catch the bus.
I started traveling out of
compulsion.
Then out of necessity.
And finally, it became a habit.
I enjoyed the travel.
It was fun to meet so many people…
Everyone in a hurry to reach their
destination…
Everyone will be having something
scheduled to be done on reaching that destination…
It was fun ☺
When I came back home from Chennai,
I started missing bus endeavors
I missed the long walks to/from bus
stop..
Because I was always in my vahana – My scooterette!!!
I was busy enjoying the ride and
was immersed in that joy..
However, one day, I decided that I
can walk at times…
That I can travel in buses too…
Nowhere is it prohibited with a
written rule that persons with scooterette should not walk or travel in bus!!
With that realization, I traveled
in bus that day…
The darkness had evaded the World and
everyone was in a hurry to reach to the comforts of their home…
I was no exception!!
It was then, I found my Geeth…
She would be at least three times
older to the Geeth we all know…
But she was same as Geeth in one
aspect – chattering!!
She talked about her daughter… Her
sons… her work… From where she is coming… That her sister-in-law is admitted in
a hospital… That the work of a LIC Agent is very difficult and redundant… That
she is a single mother as her husband passed away years before… That girls should
get married once they cross their twenties and that she is looking for a
suitable groom for her daughter… That walking is good for health and she needs
to walk a mile to reach her home from the bus-stop…That January breeze is too
chill...
Blah… Blah… Blah… Blah… Blah… Blah…
Blah… Blah… Blah…
Come on dude…
I have limited memory…
She talked to me for ten minutes!!!
She continued to talk while getting
out of the bus and until the bus started to move.
OMG!!!
That’s indeed my Geeth, I thought.
I realized that there are real
Geeths out there!!
She rocks yaar!!
She was innocent and in spite of
her age, she sounded childish…
“See you child, who knows… We may
meet again”, she remarked…
I could not stop myself from
admiring her…
I am talkative myself…
But, could not utter a word to my Geeth1
I was a silent spectator… And felt
like Aditya Kashyap!!
Huah ha ha…!!!
Note:
For
all those people who don’t know who Geeth is….
Geeth is the name of the lead
character in Imtiaz Ali’s movie – Jab We
Met. The role was played by Kareena Kapoor. Geeth was a chatter-box who
could talk to anyone and about anything. Her character and innocence stole
millions of hearts. Nobody was surprised when it became a blockbuster.
Oops!!!
ReplyDeleteI had a same experience few days back...
A girl... who is just 20 or 21...
You wont believe...
She is a mother... Her child is around 3 now...
Happened to sit beside me in bus...
She started with a self-intro...
Then asked about my whereabouts... That was the only moment when I had to open my mouth...
Rest of the time, as you said, I became a spectator, a good one indeed!!!
I could absorb from her words...
How badly she regrets on being a responsible lady at this early age...
How badly she is hurt that she had to stop her studies in her 10th std...
I could see her eyes which were bright...
And were always in search for something...
May be her lost dream... Her education...
May be her gone happy days... Her childhood...
I dont know...
But she managed to keep a smile... Throughout the journey...
Locomente... She was another Geeth indeed!!! :)
