Payal and her husband Sameer were
planning a road trip to Goa with their seven years old daughter Misha. It was
their first road trip since Misha’s birth.
Payal and Sameer were
neighbors... childhood buddies... classmates... And love bloomed in mid teenage
days... After a decade of courtship, they married and they celebrated their fourth
wedding anniversary with infant Misha.
Both Payal and Sameer were
excited. They felt younger and naughtier. They felt like they are going to
relive those old days... Holding hands... Walking silently feeling each other’s
presence... Misha would only multiply their happiness.
Misha has always been a sport and
a child that doesn’t throw tantrums. She has never been a problem. She would
sleep in the theatre and let her parents enjoy the film. She would silently
absorb her surroundings and let her parents do the shopping. She would play
with her doll, Gulabi and let her parents steal time for themselves when drive
aimlessly around the city. Misha has always been adorable and a perfect daughter.
Excitement aside, Payal was
worried too.
“Sameer, do you remember? Last year
when we had gone to Mahabhaleshwar, Misha had suffered severe motion sickness. I
am worried about that now. I don’t want to fall sick in Goa” Payal expressed
her fear.
“Payal, you are getting worried unnecessarily.
It was because of the hairpin turns. Even I felt like puking. And you know that I am not motion sick. That
driver was crazy. He was rough”, he said as a matter of fact.
“No Sameer. Then tell me what was
that when we went to attend your cousin’s wedding in Pune? All our relatives
were there and she couldn’t have any fun. Bechara.
Expressway is the best road we can have and still she suffered motion sickness”,
she countered.
Sameer could not deny that
either. He remembered that very well. But he also remembered that Misha was
completely alright when they drove to Lonavala this summer. She was full of
life and enjoyed the hill station. He
shared that view with Payal. She nodded and felt that to be strange.
They decided to ask Misha themselves.
But before they confronted, Misha volunteered and expressed herself.
“Mamma, Pappa will drive our car
to Goa?” she asked
“Yes beta. Mamma will also drive”, she said
“Can I take Gulabi with me?”
Misha asked
“Sure. Mamma, Pappa, Misha bitiya
and Gulabi to Goa!!!” she declared and planted a kiss on her face.
“Mamma, Last time when we went to
Pune and Lonavala, I vomited na. I
remember that so well. It was because of the car’s smell I think. It smelled of
sweat. There was no AC and it felt as if Sun is inside our car. It was a
terrible experience” she said and went to play with Gulabi.
That night, she shared the
conversation she had with Misha.
“Ah! Payal, now I understand. Our
car has AC and there is Ambipur’s mini vent clip that lets out soothing and
exotic frangrance. Therefore, all the foul smells gets negated”, he though
aloud.
“Thank God Sameer. I was
wondering how our child can have motion sickness when we both don’t have. I don’t
know if it can be heredity and all... Still... I was worried. How fool we were
to think that Misha has motion sickness. It was actually something else”, she
also though aloud and smiled happily.
Christmas was nearing and they
were excited... New Year at Goa...
What else can they ask for... And
dream about...
Payal and Sameer slipped on
wither sides of little Misha sleeping holding Gulabi in hands. They held each
other’s hands over Misha’s chest that was jumping to the tune of her breath.
The threesome snored peacefully!

You

Disclaimer
Though this story is a fiction, I
have a similar problem like Misha. I get sick of car’s smell. I also know that
there are many people who get sick of it. And Ambi Pur comes in rescue of all
such poor souls. Further who doesn’t enjoy an exotic drive?
Are the hairpins that treacherous....Never felt though when i completed a hatrick of visits to Mahabaleshwar!!!!!
