Swelling Pride...

“God, what is wrong with this boy”, Matilta, Scott’s mum let out a sigh.

Scott was fourteen years old and from god-knows-from-where has developed a habit of dismantling all the electronic devices at home... Television... Computer... Microwave oven... Even washing machine and dishwasher...

That day Scott had laid his hands on keyboard. It was his dad’s gift on his seventh birthday.

“Matilda, let him dismantle and learn. I bet that someday he would be a great mechanic. He might even invent something”, her husband would always say.

They had, thus, let the child chase his dreams; with swelling pride.

  3. Very understanding and cool parenting. Wouldn't get that kind of reaction in our house. :)

  4. I was thinking the same thing as Sandra. It takes a special kind of parent to deal with this so coolly.

  8. Dear Satya,

I only hope the boy can put together the things he dismantles. Good thing he has understanding parents. I would be upset if my son took apart my washing machine. Nice one.

  9. I need my dishwasher fixed. Would you send your boy round? Thank you. Good story. Realistic too. My brother used to make 'machines' using off-cuts of wood from our grandfather's shed. He used to add moving parts. He grew up to be a good mechanic and other things. You have spelled his mother's name in two different way, by the way: Matilta and Matilda. :)
