Love and Commitment

Of course, I love you
But I cannot marry you
He said stubbornly

Then she just stared back,
Helplessly; and words failed her
Tears rolled down her cheeks

Love and commitment...
Two different things those were!
Realization dawned

PS: Can you believe it? This is my 200th Haiku! OMG!!!

  1. wow, what a hard conversation that must have been. People have many views on marriage, but it's great to be loved.

    1. So true sir...
Many a times we tend to get absorbed in ourselves that we ignore what others would feel...

      Thanks sir :)

  4. I can empathize with the woman. Love and commitment are actually the same. Only those who love you can be committed to you. The woman should just open her eyes to the fact that her man does not love her.

  6. Love is not at influenced by status, anything financial or any cultural impetus. Love and marriage business arrangements are separate issues. Love is a terrible thing which makes people crazy. I am not sure if it is good for anyone unless it is mutual and of equal intensity which is extremely rare. Enjoyed your haiku.

  9. Oh how sad. A heartbreaking place to be. But even sadder were they to marry and her to realize he lacked commitment after the fact. Now she is free for true love to find her.

  12. I see, and have also experienced, the truth of this situation but I still don't understand it. Isn't love the motivator that makes commitment desirable?
