Dark Chambers

http://rochellewisofffields.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/melting-wax-renee-heath.jpg

The Church looked magnificent and its silence filled my heart with serenity. I closed my eyes and succumbed to my thoughts.

My life’s journey has been full of ups and downs. Unusually, success brought more sorrow than happiness and love brought more tears than smiles. Loved ones always left and I  am always forced to take choices.

And I am fed up.
I am tired of moving on, chasing childhood dreams and pleasing people.

I let the tears flow, unmindful of times that passed and candles that melted.

I wished that the candle flames could brighten the dark chambers within heart.

PS: Thanks Rochelle for this wonderful picture prompt! J

  1. Dear Satya,

It may be painful at the time but letting go of some dreams (not all) and making the decision not to be a people pleaser is a healthy rite of passage.

Nicely written. One note, though. Could you mean "magnificent" rather than "magnanimous?"

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  2. The inward reflections so often are like dark corridors of bitter darkness... having a guiding light is so important.

  3. Sometimes is takes a silent sanctuary for us to truly explore and evaluate our lives, be it a church or a favourite place. I hope there is a way forward. The light can come from within too.

  6. Nice glimpse into this person's mind. I like the frame of the candles burning in the church.

  7. Sometimes you need the silence of a different place to calm a turbulent or troubled mind. Very emotional piece, well done

  9. Echoing the comments above. Moving on can be so difficult (unless you can get rid of people as Sandra's woman does) and getting passed worrying about what others think can be very hard. You drew me right into the thoughts and feelings. Good job!

I think you need "my" between "within" and "heart" at the end.

  10. There is a sweet sentiment to your story. One note, did you mean to say, "make choices," instead of "take choices?"
