Lessons Learnt #3

H
ave you observed?
During winters, the shades of leaves change. From verdant green, they become yellow and brown. They lose their texture and wither. Finally, the trees shed their leaves.

I wish I knew how the tree would feel when the leaves, which is a part of parcel of its body, is ripped apart... I wonder how the tree must be feeling while letting the leaves be carried by the wind. How would the tree feel seeing the leaves being scattered around… when living animals walk over it and when vehicles sped over it… When the leaves are finally carried away out of sight.

Enduring the cold winter, the tree gives away a leaves which are a part of itself. I am sure that it would be painful. It suffers. Yet, the tree lets them go. And, in the spring, it is rewarded with fresh set of leaves – young and gleaming!

Hold on peoples…
Do winters teach something that is crucial for our lives? Can we learn something?

Aren’t we like those trees which carries several leaves of memories with us? Don’t we struggle to give up our first love? Don’t we believe that such a love/memories is a part of our identity and refuse to give up?

For a change, can we accept the past… Forgive… And let go off the past?
Can we lead our lives on the belief that spring is not far away… And hope that happiness will bloom sooner?

Let love reign and hatred be killed!

  1. I do not think trees feel any pain when they shed leaves. It is like us humans cutting our nails periodically. My personal opinion. I could be wrong.

    1. No, you might not be wrong. And I agree with you.
But, imagine... you have grown your nails. Wanted to paint them nicely.
And one of them gets chipped. Its not a physical pain. But, you feel bad although you know that it will grow back!

I might be wrong too :)

      Thanks SG!

  5. Nice thought. 'If all the winter comes, can the spring be far behind?'So they will be in expectation and expectations are sweeter than actual enjoyment.

  6. There is so much to learn from nature too if only we care to observe, like trees bearing fruits for us with no expectations..

  10. Wonderful one! When I started reading, I felt that trees may not feel anything as retaining them would drain them out and would in turn be painful. Even if they feel the pain, it may not be more than what they may feel when retaining the leaves in that weather. But, later I started sinking with your thoughts... Then, I could feel what you are sharing. Yes, for we human beings, leaving behind bad memories may be painful. But, not as painful as much as keeping them with us...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts :) TC! Keep smiling :)
