A free flowing water it was...
Sometimes from the cliff...
Unmindful of the rough rocks
And thorny plants.
Sometimes like a serene river...
Bringing wholesomeness
And reflecting each other.
Sometimes like the mighty ocean...
So vast and deep
And waves hinting the passion we shared.
A free flowing water it was...
I recall my dear friend...
But today...
It's just a stagnant water...
Dirty and futile.
Echoing the glory of bygone.
Yeahhhh, Stagnant water it is, Dirty and Futile
ReplyDeleteMay be in a slightly different way
May be yes!
DeleteRestricted and rendered immobile to move forward ,things indeed tend to stagnate.
ReplyDeleteTouching lines.
Thanks GP :)
DeleteVery thoughtful
ReplyDeleteThanks Shilpa :)
DeleteThis might evaporate and new silvery water might start flowing again! Very nicely used/expressed words!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)

DeleteReads like a song, really a delightful piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot :)
DeleteThis is just fabulous. Each line so deep. I am surprised that we both think alike more than once, I did a painting on a similar thought called finding its way !
ReplyDeleteThats really surprising...
DeleteGreat minds think alike!
Sometime life reflects through the stagnant water… like memories stored inside.
ReplyDeleteBtw. The stagnant water becomes dirty and futile is depends on the environment.
Exactly..
DeleteA wonderful use of metaphor and imagery
ReplyDeleteThanks Jae :)
DeleteIt ebbs &a flows. Terrific
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot :)
Deletesomething very fresh in your poetry despite the sense of stagnation here
ReplyDeleteGlad that you liked it...
DeleteThanks!
Love the feel of nostalgia that lingers within the lines :)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully penned.
Lots of love,
Sanaa
Thanks Sanaa :)
DeleteQuite symbolic really. Sad when that fresh water turns stagnant. And sad when a relationship changes as well...I think one can't help yearning for what once was.
ReplyDeleteI think so too...Thanks!
Deleteit's sad when a free flowing stream opens into some stagnant water body instead of the ocean...what it might have been and what it became...sad end of a relationship...
ReplyDeleteOr a new beginning :P
DeleteI wonder how many times we are filled with stagnant water... and it only takes a small amount to spoil all the fresh water.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
DeleteOh the contrast is striking.....we need a big fresh wind of Change to blow across it and clear the muddy waters!!! Smiles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry :)
DeleteEven stagnant water has a history, and I like how you read it here. All along I wanted to know the possibility of return, all along I hoped for renewal.
ReplyDeleteMay be there is still a chance to recycle!
DeleteVery effective metaphor.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
DeleteI think I'll pass on a drink from that water..perhaps, a new stream of water can be found.
ReplyDeleteThats a great idea!
DeleteThanks for linking at Prompt Nights!!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!
DeleteA sad ending to a beautiful tale.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe its a new beginning too :)
Deleteanything that goes stagnant goes dirty.. be it relations or water .. Life is all hunky dory to start with .. but thne later when things slow down thats when we need to make an effort for it to start flowing :)
ReplyDeleteBikram's

DeleteWhat would have made you pen these lines? Quite reflective.
