My Thoughts
The movie begins with a non-clichéd scene starring Anushka and you would instantly fall in love with the movie. Refreshingly, the movie maintains such non-clichéd air and offers realism to heroism. The wonderful script is jet-paced. Action sequences are well-choreographed and believable.

Ajith as Sathyadev looks handsome as ever. He is spontaneous as IPS. Anushka Shetty as Thenmozhi doesn’t have much scenes. Yet she comes across as someone who is independent having views and opinions. Trisha as Hemanika is all dolled up; looks beauty personified and mesmerizes the audience. Arun Vijay as Victor has a tinge of goodness amidst of badness. However, his villainous deeds were not powerfully expressed. Debutant Parvathi Nair as Lisa, Victor’s wife, is not regular stereotypical goodie-good wife. Instead she supports her husband to fulfill his criminal activities. Baby Anikha (5 Sundarikal fame, who acted in/as Sethulakshmi) as Isha speaks through silence and her eyes. Vivek as Revolver Richard adds light moments to the movie.

The actors’ deliver dialogs in the signature Gautham Menon Style. Lots of English dialogs makes it very relatable. I don’t understand why the director is obsessed with killing wives/girlfriends. The songs are not great and fail to stamp a mark.

However, the storyline is not unique. The dialogs, scenes and the flow reminds of movies like Kaakka Kaakka Vettiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Vaaranam Aayiram. When Ajith rides the mighty Enfield, it took me to a nostalgic mode and I almost thought that I saw Kamal Hassan (Vettiyaadu Vilaiyaadu) there.

Having said that, you will not feel bored at all. A wonderful entertainer.
Enjoy it with your family!

Loco Bites
Do I see a connection between Kaakka Kaakka, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Yenna Arindhaal? In Kakka Kaakka, Surya is a Police Officer… marries Jyothika and she eventually dies in the hands of gangster on their marriage night. In Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, Kamal Hassan’s wife Kamalini Mukherji gets killed by a gangster… later he marries single-mother Jyothika. And, in Yennai Arindhaal, Ajith’s fiancé Trisha who is also happens to be single mother is killed by gangster… later he befriends Anushka! Looks like a trilogy. Tada! Have I connected the dots?

PS: When Ajith introduces himself as Sat(h)ya, I yelled in the theater, “Me too”. Yippieee!!!! :D

  2. I didn't like GM's earlier movies much, so I don't think I am going to watch this movie immediately. Besides, there is over hype for this movie and generally such movies are not good.

  3. I saw this movie. My personal opinion is you will like this movie if you are Thala's fan. It is Ajith's regular masala, ala Rajni Kanth's masala.

  5. I have been reading a lot of your movie reviews on your blog, Shamitab's review has made me decide to go for it . Even though I am not a big Dhanush Fan,! and this, I have always liked Gautam menon's movies, even though I find them very lengthy and dragged sometimes, I think this should be a one time watch?
