Goan Churches

The Basilica of Bom Jesus located in Old Goa-India. 'Bom Jesus' means Holy.

The basilica is considered to be one of the best examples of baroque architecture in India.

It is more than 408 years old and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier is kept for public viewing every ten years (last held in 2014). It is said that the saint's body was as fresh as the day it was buried. The saint is said to have miraculous powers of healing.

The Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church is in Panjim, Goa, India. It was first built in 1541 as a chapel by the Portuguese and it was replaced by a larger church in the 1600s. It was built to serve the religious needs of Portuguese sailors at their first port of call in colonial Portuguese India. At that time the settlement was a small fishing village.
