Some-THING is Better than No-ONE

She opened her laptop and clicked at the colorful circle-like icon, Google Chrome. She visited the Chrome site and clicked at the themes. She patiently went through the themes and selected a colorful one. It had little flowers and was bustling with life, vibrant and cheery. Thus, she changed her only-black theme. She smiled, satisfied with herself.

She looked around. The place suddenly seemed to be a space stuffed with happiness.

Yes! She was happy that day. But there was no one to share that happiness with. There were strangers and more strangers. And the strangers were busy in their world – tapping on cell phone, talking on cell phone, playing on the touch phone... And what not!

She has never been a gadget-freak. She had a smart phone too; bought more to tickle her ego than to put into anything useful. She never played games. And she loathed to read eBooks. All she did was talk and message. Those calls and messages made her miss the loved ones. She wished that such technology never evolved and that people were around to talk. She missed that warmth people’s presence spread.

But that day, she felt strangely happy. She felt as if her laptop and Google Chrome empathized. Each time when she opened the browser, she smiled; she imagined that they are smiling at her.

She sighed. She concluded that some-THING is better than no-ONE

& yes something is better than no.

Talking directly is really different from talking through texts or calls, but it's only technology which helps us to stay in touch with our loved once who are miles away from us...
    Well written..!

    1. If they are miles away... then we can help it. I agree.

But sometimes, nothing can replace togetherness.

Thanks Akshitha for the perspective! :)

  10. 'Things' are always better than 'Ones'. They don't change. If they do, it will be according to our whims and fancies. I now realize I need to socialize with robots. The best of 'things' out there :)
