I beg to disagree. If everything is predetermined course of events beyond human control (Destiny), then why we even try? Whatever happens, happens, and we can’t do anything about it.
I agree with SG's disagreement ... in a way ... cuz I am constantly trying to chance destiny ... sometime I succeed ... sometimes not ... not that slows me down ... no, sirry ... always fighting destiny to the bitter end ... you? ... Love, cat.
i think because the universe is in constant tumult and chaos, destiny is where one of cognitive consciousness ends up but never predetermined. this debate of 'determinism', William James, is a valid discourse issue but i disdain that common recent cliche statement...'it is what it is'.
Your poem has sparked an interesting discussion. I believe in everything - that there is a general over-arching design, with multi possibilities, for our lives and that, under that, we are free to make our own choices. If that makes any sense. LOL. Am having trouble identifying myself on my daughter's computer - this is Sherry.

ReplyDeleteWe try indeed... And I believe that it is destiny's plan too :D

ReplyDeleteI think success or failure to win over destiny is an illusion... And only destiny/fate is real!
DeleteGuess you are a Paul Coelho and his fantasy about destiny .
ReplyDeleteHowever if all is predetermined and destined why even move a finger? If it has to it will.
If you should move the finger or not... that is also pre-determined and planned for you - I believe :)
DeleteI do think we have to work to attain our destiny. If we only sit on our behind, we attain nothing.
ReplyDeleteSome dont work Mary... And I think that they are designed to behave that way!
DeleteOh, I hope not... I hope this is not by design.
DeleteThis reminds me of the song
ReplyDeleteQue Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.
People say that we can change destiny but even then destiny or fate or what will be, will be.
All of us have a destiny whether we like it or not.
Best wishes
Finally, someone shares a similar perspective as mine!
DeleteCheers!
Without being aware of it we create our own destiny.
ReplyDeleteONLY if it is a part of destiny too :P
DeleteTo trust in our destiny is a kind freedom - i see that here
ReplyDeleteSafer one too... :)
DeleteI guess you're referring to faith in a way.. if we have a strong faith that destiny shall not deceive us - then we are good to go :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting perspective :)

ReplyDeleteHmmm.. Sounds true.. Not sure though :)
Deletei think one's work / karma makes one's destiny & it can be changed through hard work...
ReplyDeleteCould be... You never know!
DeleteNot quite sure. To believe that whatever happens is destiny and not work toward a dream with self belief seems strange.
ReplyDeleteLeo @ I Rhyme Without Reason
There are many people who dont work also... I believe thats c they are designed that way.. Destined to be so!

ReplyDeleteHi Sherry... I know... I see lots of disagreements to my angle..
DeleteAnd all I can say is that I was destined to go through this... :P
Good work... well written.
